If you get the chance it is well worth paying a visit to the Wesleyan Chapel at Mow Cop. See link for opening hours. The proprietor of the Museum is not only a mine of local knowledge, but is the area archivist for the Primitive Methodist museum at Engelsea Brook.
Many of the exhibits feature Church, Industrial and Social history. There are exhibits and information to suit everyone’s tastes, and if you are trying to trace your family history and you think your ancestors were involved in the local Mines, Churches, Mill etc. Then John may be able to help
