Killer Mile 2008 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Once again the Killer Mile was run with great support and help from the local community with runners from all over the country arriving at Mow Cop to run their hearts out. Age isn't a concern, to most and certainly doesn't matter to the juniors and veterans. For the 4th staging of the re-introduction of the 'Killer' Mile we were blessed with excellent weather, clear blue skies and a bracing breezes which helped to keep the athletes cool during their turmoil. A rough count of finishers reveals that there were 874 runners on the night |

This years story, apart from the fast times and the medal winners has to be about the two young girls who ran to help raise money for Leighton Hospital and the bowel cancer charity. Molly Pheasey aged five and her younger sister Heidi Preasey aged two, yes that's right, two years old! Ran the gruelling race. The girls were both running in aid of Leighton Hospital and Bowel Cancer on behalf of Joanna Rhodes, aged 31, who is a friend of the girls mum Gaby. Joanna has raised over £4000 for the Leighton Hospital and Bowel cancer and a big congratulations goes to the girls for raising their sponsorship money. |

The Killer Mile as we have seen isn't just about personal glory and competition but is used by many for fundraising. Well done to Crewe Audi for running in aid of prostate cancer. |
