Christmas Fundraiser 2002

On Sunday 14th December 2002 the Mow Cop Residents Association held their first fundraising day, and what a day it was. It all started at 11:00 am when committee members opened the Church Hall and started to set up stalls. There were the usual you would expect at a village Christmas Fete, Tombola, White Elephant, Cakes, BBQ, Face Painting plus various other stalls where prizes could be won. Just over £300 was raised.

Santa and an Elf arrived on top of Lenny's 1930's style open topped bus. Santa informs me that the journey up to the Church was bitterly cold, and that people who thought he was waving never realised he was just shivering. The children did not have to pay and see Santa and all under 11's got a present as well, and they were good quality as well.

Horace and Des braved the cold chill without the aid of a fur covered suit and ran the BBQ outside under a gazebo, while inside the others played giant connect 4 against Chris the Clown.

The Chairman's wife Michelle, bravely sold raffle tickets and was one of many volunteers who helped make the day special as well as successful.
Children of all ages got to see Santa on the Bus.

Eventually the afternoon became tea-time and everyone had to leave, but we all greed it was a wonderful experience.
Many thanks must go to all who helped, to those who donated prizes and white elephant/car boot items, cakes bottles etc., but more importantly time.
Thanks to (and in no particular order)
