Village Fete 2001

The MC for the day was Mr. Terry Fox

Saturday 9th June saw what will hopefully be the beginning of many Village Fetes. The event was officially started by the Borough Mayor, Mr. Roy Gilltrap, and the Mayor of Kidsgrove Mrs. Dorothy Fogg at 2:00pm and went on through to 5:00pm.
There were a number of traditional stalls from cakes, tombola face painting and of course the ubiquitous beer tent. I was also there running the mowcop.com and keyring stall.
During the afternoon we were entertained by a band walking around and playing there own brand of music, they were called Steam Head and were from Sandbach.
The fete was to raise money for many local good causes, including local churches and paying for the Christmas lights , benches, and the new Mount Pleasant sign, a grand total of £1400 was raised.

A huge well done should be extended to all who organised the event especially Maureen and Tony Hawkins ? Who has recently put so much into reviving a local community atmosphere

Steam Head provided the entertainment

Some of the money goes towards new ideas like a sign in the village
